Dear members.
I am pleased to advise you that a comprehensive review of the DBV Constitution (August 2021) has been completed with the aim being to ensure our governance remains strong, transparent, and aligned with national standards. As part of this process, the Board will present the DBV Proposed Constitution (28 August 2026) for consideration at the scheduled Special General Meeting (SGM).
The updated constitution introduces improvements in governance, financial oversight, elections, disciplinary processes, and member protections. These changes reflect best-practice standards from AusDBF, Sport Integrity Australia, and the Australian Sports Commission.
The Board wishes to acknowledge the commitment of those members who volunteered to critique and contribute to the drafting process over many months, as well as others listed who provided specific technical feedback. In particular, our thanks to Doug Stevens who has diligently provided carriage of the drafting and editing processes of each iteration throughout this year.
Ahead of the SGM, I encourage you to review the proposed constitution and discuss it within your club membership. There is a set of support documents provided to facilitate understanding any significant changes that have been made.
The motion to adopt the updated constitution will be presented as a special resolution at the SGM, scheduled for 23 September 2026. The meeting will be held online via Zoom.
