AusDBF Rules of Racing & DBV By-Laws

Earlier this week DBV received notification from AusDBF regarding an update to the Rules of Racing, which is now V13, effective 10 October, 2025. Changes to the Rules of Racing can be found on page 74 and 75.

This coincided with some recent minor changes to the DBV By-Laws. The primary change relates to crew lists needing to be finalised by 12 noon the day prior to a Regatta, not by 6am on the morning of.

Both updated documents can be found HERE

Footscray Regatta

Planning is well underway for next months Footscray Regatta. Please visit the Event Page for more information. This is a wonderful opportunity to 'catch up' on some paddling after Ballarat's unfortunate cancellation and get into the swing of things for Cross Boarder. Or, if not attending this year's event in Wodonga, this is your last chance to participate in a DBV Regatta in 2025.

Registrations close on Wednesday 5 November.

VIC26 Update

Following the completion of the first phase of the VIC26 Selection Process, State Head Coach Kathryn Sanford has penned the following letter which can be viewed HERE

Regatta Advisory Group

Did you know the Regatta Advisory Group (RAG) supports DBV in planning our Regattas? There are currently 3 DBV members + 2 DBV representatives on RAG but we're looking for a couple more people to help drive better outcomes for our events. RAG typically meets for 1 hour per month and discusses:

1. Regatta venues and explores new ideas

2. Regatta categories and formats

3. DBV Regatta calendar including optimising the schedule

4. Regatta operations

If you would like to contribute and feel as though you can make a difference, please contact administration@dragonboatvictoria.com.au and outline why you think you'd be a good addition.

Level 1 Coaching Course

DBV has set the dates for the first Coaching Course for the 25/26 season. This will be a L1 Course run by Lisa Smallbone, on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December at the Community Boat Hub, Docklands. Further information including registration details can be found HERE. Get in quick, spaces are limited.

Sweep Accreditations

This is a gentle reminder that Clubs are responsible for ensuring their Sweeps obtain and maintain a current First Aid Certificate (and CPR) and a Working With Children Check. Clubs must check their Sweep accreditations are up to date and enforce this requirement. Sweeps are not permitted to perform their role without these being current. The accreditations should be uploaded to the members profile on RevSport. Please contact DBV if you require any assistance.

DBNSW Lunar New Year Regatta

The DBNSW LNY Regatta is on Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March in Darling Harbour, Sydney. For more information please contact Nicole Bates - nicole@dbnsw.org.au or visit their Event Page.
