DBV Appoints New Director

Dragon Boat Victoria is pleased to announce the appointment of Aidan Meyer (CYSM) to the Board of Directors, filling a casual vacancy through to the 2026 Annual General Meeting.

This appointment follows the conclusion of a thorough Expression of Interest (EOI) process, which was initiated after the resignation of Mark Wheeldon.

Congratulations Aidan and we wish you every success in your new role. 

Australian Championships 2026 Summary

The entire Victorian Dragon Boat community is incredibly proud of our clubs, athletes, coaches, supporters and everyone involved in this year's Australian Championships!

Our VIC26 crews were tremendous and Head Coach Kathryn Sanford has provided the following summary including an invitation to complete the post-campaign survey.  

Regatta and Development Committee EOI

EOI for membership on the Regatta and Development Committee.  

The DBV Board is pleased to invite members to submit an Expression of Interest to join the Regatta and Development Committee.  

The former Regatta Advisory Group (RAG) was reviewed and replaced by this committee. Please see the following Terms of Reference.   

If you believe you have the time and skills to support the work of the R&D Committee, please submit a short written EOI addressing the following: 

  • What particular skills would you bring to the R&D Committee? 

  • Are there particular groups in the DBV community that you feel you could represent on the R&D Committee? 

  • How would you work with the above groups to ensure informed representation and communication? 

  • Do you have your club’s support to express your interest? Please include a signature from your Club President accordingly.

Coach Coordinator EOI - A New Position Within DBV

The DBV Board has introduced a new position within the DBV structure to assist with
supporting pathways for existing and new coaches.  

The Coach Coordinator's primary role is to support the development, accreditation and 
ongoing capability of club coaches across Victoria. 

The role encompasses:

  • oversight of coach accreditation and currency as authorised by AusDBF 
  • mentoring and support of coaches 
  • capacity building of coaches across Victoria to achieve best practice, and  
  • acting with integrity and fairness, demonstrate the skill levels required for 
    coaching and coach development within DBV.
     

The position focuses on coach education, access to resources, mentoring and
alignment with DBVand AusDBF pathways. It works collaboratively alongside
club and state coaches to strengthen the overall coaching environment across Victoria.
 

This role is developmental in nature and does not replace or override existing 
coaching structures, presenters or performance programs.
