DBV News #22
Victorian Aurora's
A shout out to all the Victorian Aurora athletes who over the past 18 months prepared, and who have now competed in, the 17th IDBF World Nations Dragon Boat Championships in Brandenburg 14-20 July 2025. What an incredible journey for the Victorian Aurora athletes!

35 members from 11 DBV clubs came together and put in an impressive performance culminating in an epic campaign in Germany. Along with athletes from around Australia, the paddlers hard work paid off with 5 Gold, 13 Silver, and 21 Bronze medals! This ranks Australia 6th from 19 countries that medalled and the 33 countries that participated.

The team's adaptability and resilience were put to the test in Brandenburg. They navigated new boats, tricky conditions and the rope rollock system for the sweep oar (oars secured by rope) - very different to those used in Australia. Despite these challenges they delivered high-level performances that impressed fans watching live and via livestream. Now the campaign's wrapped up, it's time for the team to celebrate back home with family and friends and reset ahead of the Victorian racing season.

Congratulations everyone!
