The Southern Cross Cup

A Southern Cross Cup will be awarded for first, second and third place getters in each of the Premier, Senior A and Senior B divisions.  Points will be awarded to each crew in the 100m, 200m, 500m and 1km races according to the times achieved in the final of each event and the ranking of these.  All teams are involved in a final.  For Premier teams 16 points will be awarded to the fastest team in each event – the range will be 16-1.  For Senior A, the range will be 4-1 and for Senior B the range will be 6-1.

Revsport and Team Lists

  • We recognise there have been difficulties for some clubs using the usual Revsport processes to enter a full team list electronically for this event, particularly where a club is seeking to add interstate paddlers or paddlers from external clubs.  As a result we need to ask if clubs could provide a clear paper copy of their team - a Revsport copy plus neat hand written entries for other team members is acceptable.  This team list does not change for the day and there is no need to provide a crew list.
  • Each team has up to 28 paddlers for the competition and these participants can’t be changed for the whole competition.
  • Each day Team Managers are to submit to Admin a paper copy of their marked-up team list to indicate the paddlers, sweeps and drummers in attendance on that day and who will be within the ‘racing area’ for the half day of their team events.  This is to be submitted at least one hour before the start of racing on each day i.e. before 7.30am for Premiers teams and before 12.30pm for Senior A and B teams.

Site map

As a reminder the location of the regatta is at Lemke Road, Gateway Lakes, Wodonga – just over the Murray River border into Victoria for those coming from NSW or the ACT and just before the river/border for those coming from Victoria.

A copy of the site map for the location of parking and club marquees etc can be viewed - here

Presentations

Premier category to be held TBA after lunch on Sunday

Senior A and B categories to be held approximately at 3pm on Sunday

Helping to run a smooth regatta

  • Final invoices - please ensure regatta entry fees have been paid
  • PFD’s - Some clubs had requested assistance by cob Monday 12th April from administration@dragonboatvictoria.com.au for the provision of additional PFD’s which meet the safety regulation requirements.  These can be signed for and collected from the Admin tent on Friday morning.
  • Sweep/drummer pool - We ask that sweeps/drummers make themselves available to meet any requests. Please contact DBV asap if you believe there will be an issue for your club/crew prior to the event so that we can organise this.

Travel arrangements

You need a permit to enter Victoria

It has recently come to our attention that there is a need for interstate paddlers (and for Victorian paddlers staying in accommodation located in NSW) to fill out an online form – a relatively quick process for those not in a designated COVID zone.

Travelling to or from Melbourne – Hume Freeway closure

For those who might be travelling from Melbourne on Friday night or returning Sunday night note this information from VicRoads on the closure of the Hume Freeway just before it separates to become the ring road on the outskirts of Melbourne.  We’re closing the Hume Freeway between Cooper Street and the Hume Highway from 8pm Friday 16 April to 5am Monday 19 April
